Monarda didyma. Clusters of red flowers, like ragged pompoms are produced in summer on 30-60cm stems. The name 'bergamot' is from the similarity of its scent with Citrus bergamia, the bergamot orange, grown in southern Italy. The flowers are very attractive to bees. Priced for a 1 litre pot
Use: Oil from the leaves is used to treat respiratory ailments and the tea is sublime.
