Edible Daylily. This edible daylily bears dark maroon-red lily-like flowers with golden yellow throats, each one lasting a day, then replaced the next day with many more. Flowering time is late spring into summer. It is very hardy and ideal for the colder British climate. Sun or light shade, normal garden soil. Height 75cm, spread 60cm.
Harvest the shoots in spring and use in stir fries or pasta. Use the tubers in winter. The flower buds can be steamed or stir-fried, and the flowers can be used in salads or dried in miso soups. Lift and divide every three years to maintain flowering. Priced for: 1 litre pot
