Amelanchier alnifolia, 'Thiessen' (Saskatoon)

Amelanchier alnifolia. Saskatoon or Juneberry. The largest fruiting Saskatoon and one of the earliest. Very productive and reliable. It is typically grown for its edible qualities, although it does have ornamental merits as well, providing amazing autumn colour and stunning spring blossom. The dark purple berries have a sharp tangy flavour and are high in Vitamin C. The fruit is ideal for a wide range of uses. Sun or part shade. Very hardy. Priced for: a 3 litre pot
