A deciduous herbaceous perennial with green strappy leaves, bearing lavender/purple/pink flowers, with a cream throat, in summer, each one lasting just a day, only to be replaced by many more. Overall height of the plant is around 60cm, the flowers being 13cm across.
Harvest the shoots in spring and use in stir fries or pasta. Use the tubers in winter. The flower buds can be steamed or stir-fried, and the flowers can be used in salads or dried in miso soups. Lift and divide every three years to maintain flowering. Priced for: 1 litre pot
