Zingiber mioga - Hardy Japanese Ginger. An herbaceous, deciduous, shade-loving perennial native to Japan & southern Korea. The young spring shoots are first picked, and later the slightly-scented flower buds, produced on an insignificant stalk at the base of the plant, are eaten. The flower buds are used in mizo soup, tempura, pickled and as a spice. It's an attractive leafy plant and happily reappears year after year. Ht: 1.2 m tall. Priced for: 1 litre pot
