Corylus avellana contorta. This is an attractive small tree or large shrub with contorted branches that look particularly interesting in winter when they are bare of leaves. In early spring long yellow catkins are produced on the bare branches, followed by heart-shaped yellow leaves that turn green as the season progesses and edible nuts in autumn. Sun or part shade. Will tolerate chalky soil. Will grow to approx 4 metres height and spread, but can can be pruned to keep it in shape and size. Priced for: 3 litre pot
