Ficus carica - Introduced in 1879 by Messrs Osborn of the Fulham Nursery. An abundant bearer and excellent for pot culture. Hardy, bearing large, dark mahogany-coloured fruits with a pea-green neck. The flesh is opaline with a rich, syrupy juice and excellent flavour. Hardy and deciduous, easy in any free draining soil, but best in poorer soil for good fruit production, or grow in a container to restrict the roots. Priced for a 2 litre pot
