Ocimum syn. Sanctum red, (or Tulasi) Sacred / Holy Red Basil , known for its medicinal value & peppery crisp taste. Dark green to purple leaves, stems & blossoms. Cultivated in the Indian plains, as well as private homes & gardens around India. Its named after the blue skinned God as the dark purple leaves resemble this colour. For thousands of yrs it’s been revered as a pillar of holistic herbal medicine & a goddess incarnated in plant form (mother medicine of nature).
