Cucurbita maxima, (Circa 1909 USA) Reliable, Bluish-Grey Skin , Once the standard against which all squash was judged, a reliable, bluish-grey green rind, creamy-yellow flesh & onion shaped ribbed variety. Introduced in 1909, originally under Symmes Blue Hubbard, after S. S. Symmes, a gardener from Mass. usa, who worked for the James J. H. Gregory seed co for many years. Believed to be a cross of Middleton Blue or Marblehead & original Hubbard. Always reliably fine textured & dry with a quite rich flavour; great baked in pies or cut into pieces & baked or steamed, Good keeper, 110 day maturity, size 8 to 10 pnds , Seed Count Approx - 6 avg
