Chaerophyllum bulbosum, Popular in the 19th C, Now Almost Forgotten , Also, Bulbous Chervil, of the carrot family native to Europe & Western Asia. Popular in the 19th C, now almost forgotten in UK & US, yet still used in French cuisine, in soups or stews. A tall Biennial herb with fringelike leaves & large umbels of white flowers, cultivated for the edible root, like a white-ish, stubby & bulbous carrot with yellowish-white flesh. Autumn storage increases sugar content. Flavour is a mix of carrot & chestnut - floury & sweet, with an aromatic hint. (Prepare roots by boiling). Ht: to 1.2 m (4ft) in 2nd year, Requires Stratification, , Seed Count Approx - 70 avg
