Allium ascalonicum, (Escallion) 'Cuisse de Poulet Poitou' which translates as "chicken leg," This classic French Heritage shallot is a ‘Banana Shaped’ long torpedo-like, pinky-brown bulb (an eschalion). It's very productive reaching 12 to 18 inches high and about 4 to 5 inches wide. It has good resistance to bolting & an excellent eating quality with a delicious mild & sweet flavour, plus it’s a good keeper. SOWING - Direct sow outdoors mid-Mar to April in full sun. Sow thinly at a depth of 1 cm & 30cm between rows. When able to handle, thin seedlings to 4cm. Cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attacks from birds and insects
