Brassica napus ssp Pabularia, Open-pollinated (Rape or Russian Kale) Introduced into Canada, & then into the USA, by Russian traders in the 19th century, while Kale, in general, can be the sweetest of Veg, these are typically more tender & have a milder flavour than the "oleracea" kales & thus its young light whitish - blue-green leaves, white stems & a ruffled shape are better for salad use. In-plant rotation, it follows after beans, peas or potatoes.
