Salvia officinalis, Century Old Perennial Kitchen Herb, There is no mistaking the unique smell of Garden Sage, For centuries it's been used as a kitchen herb,(sage has a slightly peppery flavour) to flavour meats & sauces & has also always worked well as a decorative herb. Cultivated for culinary & medicinal purposes,( as a digestive treatment), for many centuries throughout Europe. Hardy, will stand any normal winter outside. Flowers are in purplish whorls, blossoming in late summer. Requires little to no care except cutting regularly to allow it to branch out. Ht: 18 inches, perennial, Seed Count Approx - 35 / 40 avg

SOWING - Planting seeds requires patience, as sage seeds are slow to germinate. Scatter seeds overseed starting soil & cover with 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) of soil. Keep the soil damp but not soaked. Seeds can take up to 6 weeks to germinate. Succeeds best in a warm & rather dry border, but will grow well almost anywhere in ordinary garden soil; it thrives in a situation somewhat shaded from sunshine, but not strictly under trees, and needs very little attention
