Tomato, Cherokee Smokey Purple Pre 1890's Heirloom (Medium)

Solanum lycopersicum, Pre 1890's Famous Tennessee Heirloom (Cordon), A celebrated Tennessee heirloom reputedly preserved by the Cherokee people since the 1880s & still regarded as one of the finest flavoured tomatoes ever grown. Large, dusky rose-purple fruits of 10-12 oz conceal a deep brick-red interior with succulent, melting flesh & delicate, thin skin. The flavour is exceptional: richly sweet with a gentle acidity, followed by earthy undertones & a distinctive smoky depth that lingers on the palate. Fruits are often irregular rather than perfectly smooth, yet their incomparable taste has earned a devoted following for generations. After all, there may be prettier tomatoes, but few can rival this one for eating quality. Indeterminate (cordon). Approximately 80 days. Best grown outdoors., Seed Count Approx - 15 avg 

  SOWING - Surface-sown or covered only slightly, Don't allow to dry out but don’t overwater. Keep warm until germination (10 days approx), move to WARM bright light area. After about last frost, transplant out into protected growing pots. Plants need STAKING & side-shoots removed, . Likes a real warm Spot. Great grown outside or in, in a large container or in the garden.
