Aubergine (Egg Plant) , Genie - (Deep Purple)

Solanum melongena, Very Prolific - Big Purple Whopper, (F1) This one is bred in India by the sister company of Burpee Europe & selected for its Whopper sized fruit on a compact well-branched plant, which makes it useful in larger containers (35 cm) as well as in grow bags and soil beds. Ripens earlier than ‘Black Beauty’, with the creamy white, nearly seedless flesh. Big yields of voluptuous rounded fruits, in the 92 cm range. Genie performs extremely well in an unheated greenhouse or polythene tunnel and produces a yield of approximately 8-10 fruits per plant weighing 180-200 grams each.. Sown anytime from February to May., Seed Count Approx - 30 to 35 avg

 

 SOWING - Needing a long growth period so Sown anytime from February to May, Sow the seed into compost in a seed tray at a temp between 20-24C and cover with a light layer of compost. Cover compost with clear plastic film to help raise the temp during germination. Once seedlings appear, they do not need as much heat, only 18C by day and no lower than 16C at night. Re-pot in stages before final pot size. Water regularly but be careful not to overwater.
