Cucumis melo, Bright-Yellow Elongated Canary-type SWEET Melon, (Aka: a Juan Canary melon type), (F1) A STARTLING NEW DEVELOPMENT (in 2023) in the lesser-known Canary-type melons from Burpee Seed Co. A tidy bush variety bearing 4–6 yellow-skinned fruits. The sweet refreshing cream-coloured flesh has surprisingly quite sweet & perfect for a summer appetizer or dessert. Excellent resistance to powdery & downy mildew. A Canary is a type of ‘winter melon’ & is oval, bright yellow & elongated with a pale inner flesh & offering a sweet flavour that is slightly tangier than a Honeydew. The flesh looks like a pear but is softer & when ripe, the rind has a slightly waxy feel. Named for its yellow colouring, resembling that of a canary & commonly known thru-out Asia & S.Korea, Seed Count Approx - 20 avg

SOWING - Sow two seeds per pot of seed compost in a 9cm pot. After germination, remove the weaker of the two seedlings and keep the compost moist but not too wet. Plant out in late spring to early summer in full sun in well-drained soil. Cantaloupe plants need about 85 days to mature but don't rush planting. Sow seeds only when temperatures reliably stay above 50 to 60 degrees F. As the plants establish, keep tying the long main stem to plant support.
