Allium nutans - Siberian or Blue Chives. Native to central Asia to Siberia. In its native habitat, it grows in meadows and damp places. Requires little maintenance. It may be cut after flowering if it becomes unsightly and will respond well to hard pruning. Clumps may be divided in spring or autumn. Attractive to pollinating insects, particularly bumblebees, honeybees, leafcutter and mason bees. Height: 45 cm. Priced for: a 1 litre pot
Use: The leaves, raw or cooked, have a mild chive-like flavour.
