Ligusticum scoticum - Grows on cliffs & rocky shores in Scotland & Northumberland. Ht: to 60cm with deeply-cut dark green, shiny leaves and tiny white flowers in clusters from July. (part of the Queen Ann's Lace Family). Roots are used in aromatic medicinal preparations. Young shoots & leafstalks are eaten raw, with a taste not unlike celery, but more pungent. Also used to flavour soups & stews. The seeds are sweetly aromatic & used in tea. Poor soil, sunny spot. Priced for: a 1 litre pot
