This green/red Jalapeno is one of the easiest chillies to grow, produces lots of quality pods that taste great and offers a moderate to a 'kinda-burn' heat and a great versatile flavour. Originally from Xalapa in Mexico, which it was named after. Prized by the Aztecs for its warm burning sensation when eaten. Its 3 to 4 inch conical shape & med to darkish green colour will turn shiny red when ripe. Ht: 2 ft to 3 ft. Ranges from mild to hot depending on cultivation & preparation, setting from early August onwards. A 'Kinda Hot' Pepper 3500-8000 SU. SOWING - Peppers require a long, warm growing season. Sow indoors early Spring or approx 8 weeks prior to transplanting, 1 cm deep, & provide constant moisture & a warm soil. Germination is sometimes slow to start. Once seedlings develop 2-3 true leaves transplant into separate permanent containers or ground with some protection, Best in a greenhouse.
