A dramatic addition to any garden, growing up to 2 metres tall, with sturdy hollow stems that are ribbed and delicately coloured, starting out purple at the base and rising to a pale yellow green. Towering globes of creamy white flowers are produced in summer. All parts are sweetly aromatic. A hardy biennial. Priced for a 1 litre pot
Use: The leaves will flavour fish, poultry, soups or stews. The stems can be prepared like asparagus, chopped or stewed with rhubarb, or candied to be used as cake decorations
