Sage, Green

Salvia officinalis. Perennial herb, hardy and will stand any normal winter outside. Flowers are in purplish whorls and blossom in summer. and attract leafcutter bees and long-tongued bumblebees. Requires little or no care except to trim regularly to encourage new leaves and stop it from getting woody. Height: to 45cm. Priced for: 1 litre pot

Use: One of the more important kitchen flavourings, sage was once used to help preserve meat. Use in the classic stuffing for meats, or fry whole leaves to use as a garnish for many dishes.
