Japanese sansho pepper - Origin Japan, Korea and China. This is the purple-leaved MALE form of this deciduous aromatic shrub so it does not produce berries. The leaves are used to make a pesto and to flavour salads. Although not essential, it makes a good pollination partner for the self-fertile form of this variety and will improve the yield of peppercorns. Yellow-green flowers in April to May. Hardy. Height: 2 metres. Priced for: 2 litre pot approx 30-40 cms in height.
