Amelanchier alnifolia. Saskatoon or Juneberry. A hardy deciduous shrub or small tree. Attractive white flowers in April/May are followed by delicious sweet and juicy blue-black berries in summer. The berries can be eaten fresh, made into preserves or used in pies and crumbles. Lovely yellow autumn leaf colour. Height: 2.5 - 3 metres. Sunny or part-shade. Self-fertile. Hardy to -30C.
