Pyrus pyrifolia - Japan circa 1972. Snappy, tangy taste. Produces excellent quality fruit with a slightly lower acid content than other Asian pears. The tree is moderately vigorous with a slightly spreading nature. Height to 3.5 metres but can easily be kept smaller by pruning. Fruit is sweet like a pear and crisp like an apple with lots of juice. Medium to large size fruit has an attractive bronze skin. Ripens in late August. Not strictly self-fertile but will produce a modest crop without a pollinator Priced for: whip 120-150cm
