Prunus domestica - Belgium c.1806. An unusual and attractive red gage, often known by its alternative name Reine Claude D'Althann. The flavour is excellent, and it is widely regarded as one of the best-flavoured of all gages. The fruits are larger, and whilst most gages are green or yellow, this is an attractive dusky red pink colour. The flavour is by no means sharp, rather a rich sweetness, more reminiscent of a high-quality plum. Pick: Late season. Pollination group 4, needs a pollinator. Priced for: a fan-trained tree
