Corylus avellana. Also known as Pearson's Prolific. The compact habit of this cobnut makes it very suitable for the smaller garden. Attractive pale-yellow catkins in late winter, followed by good crops of large richly-flavoured nuts in September. Partially self-fertile, but will crop better with a partner. Full sun, moist but well-drained soil. Height and spread up to 6 metres if un-pruned. Suitable for hedges when pruned. Priced for: a 10 litre pot
