Vicia faba.This bean takes its name from the village of Martock in Somerset where it was grown as far back as the12th century. It was rediscovered preserved in the kitchen garden of the Bishop of Bath & Wells. A strong upright-growing variety, producing pink/mauve flowers followed by masses of small unstarchy, sweet beans.
