Phaseolus vulgaris. A popular flat-podded variety that produces very early, long slim 15cm green beans which are stringless when picked young, and have a magnificent flavour. Delicious when no thicker than a pencil, and can be sliced or cooked whole. Use young as fresh beans or leave pods to mature and use as dried (haricot) beans. Excellent for freezing.
