This Traditional pear-shaped, open-pollinated Deep Purple Fruit variety picks from Aug onwards & with 4 to 6 in. Long, smooth, glossy, round-oval, fruits with good flavour.Tender when cooked, it develops a rich, complex tasty flavour & its thin skin is also edible, so peeling is not required, well suited to growing in polytunnels, but will be fine in a protected, warm area outside; flowers rotting before the fruit is a sure sign of bad ventilation., Seed Count Approx - 30 to 35 avg SOWING - Needing a long growth period so Sown anytime from February to April, Sow the seed into compost in a seed tray at a temp between 20-24C and cover with a light layer of compost. Cover compost with clear plastic film to help raise the temp during germination. Once seedlings appear, they do not need as much heat, only 18C by day and no lower than 16C at night. Re-pot in stages before final pot size. Water regularly but be careful not to overwater.
