Basil - Herb , Thai - Red Stem (Green Leaf) Wholesome & Warming Flavour

Ocimum basilicum SP, Spicy - Bai Horapha Rau Que, This basil has a more assertive taste than sweet basils. The bright green leaves make an attractive foil for the purple-red stems which bear edible violet-pink flowers & its subtle Anise liquorice flavour & smell. The flavour is wholesome & warm & tends to hold its flavour better when cooked, superb as a container plant on the windowsill or protected patio where you can smell its aroma. (This is not the Thai Holy Basil). If fresh, pick early in the morning for the highest oil content. For drying or freezing, harvest leaves that have max oil content, just before flowering.  Thai basil is spicy with anise, or liquorice-like flavour, while sweet basil has a mild peppery and sweet taste, Seed Count Approx - 200 avg

Basils grow best in a sunny WARM location and need a well-drained, rich soil. Plants started indoors and hardened off in Late Spring can be planted outside to their permanent location or planted insetu summer into early autumn & spaced about 12 inches apart. Annual - Not Hardy
