Melissa officinalis, Perennial - Attracts Bees and is considered a "calming" herb. It’s been used since Middle Ages to reduce stress & anxiety, promote sleep, improve mood & mental performance & improve appetite. Even before the Middle Ages, it was steeped in wine to lift spirits, help heal wounds & treat venomous insect bites & stings. Leaves have a gentle lemon scent, are deeply wrinkled & range from dark green to yellowish-green, in late Aug, small white flowers full of nectar appear, attracting bees, hence the genus name Melissa (Greek for 'honey bee').
