Calendula officinalis, Medicinal Herb - (Circa 12th C), is considered one of the most versatile flowers grown & cultivated in European gardens since the 12th century. Bright orangish yellowish edible flowers have a pungent, spicy flavour & used to colour salads, or as a garnish in lieu of saffron. Leaves are edible but are often not palatable. Has a long history of medicinal use, back to ancient Greece, who drank Marigold tea to relieve nervous tension & sleeplessness. Use in cooking, dying & skincare or a symbol of good luck & a great pest control & of course - Soil Cleansing, Hardy annual Ht: 24 in, Seed Count Approx - 30 to 35 avg
 
SOWING - A native of southern Europe, but perfectly hardy and easy to grow. Seeds are sown in Spring, in any soil, in sunny, or half-sunny places germinate freely. They require no other cultivation. Also, use as a GREEN MANURE to sterilize the soil.. Sow into cultivated soil so that the seeds are about 2 ins (5 cm) apart and one-half in (1 cm) deep. Thin to 8 ins (20 cm) apart in all directions for dwarf varieties; allow 12 inches (30 cm) between very tall varieties.
