Allium fistulosum, Traditional Medium Early Japanese Type, RHS Award of garden merit Oriental variety, (suitable for Oriental cooking). With a tender & mildly pungent flavour, this traditional medium early Japanese type bunching onion, at maturity, has white shanks up to 20-24 in long with 6-7 deep green, thick leaves. These green onions do not form bulbs & do not multiply by division but form long thin white stalks, can be picked as thin as a pencil when young or left until almost as thick as a broom handle. This perennial variety is cold hardy & suitable for early spring to early autumn planting (for overwintering) HT: 1 ft (30cm), Seed Count Approx - 60 avg
 
 SOWING - Direct sow into any firm soil. Sow thinly into rows 1 cm deep spaced 30cm apart. Avoid sowing into recently manured soil. If the ground is very wet plant into raised beds. When large enough to handle thin to 25cm spacing. Or sow early indoors under protection at 10mm deep in small pots for transplanting later.
