Daucas carota, One of the Darkest Purple Carrots, a Highly attractive Nantes variety & one of the very darkest purple, plump, conical carrots from the skin to core, tapering evenly from rounded shoulders to pointed tips and when sliced will show a beautiful small lighter purple core in the middle. Very sweet tasting & crunchy & delicious raw or cooked. Amazingly, it retains its colour after cooking & is incredibly high in Anthocyanins & Vitamins. Nantes carrots are small to medium in size, averaging 15-20 cm in length & 2-5 cm in dia & are cylindrical in shape with blunt, rounded ends. Carrots originated in the Afghanistan (eastern) region & normally Black then domesticated with an oriental type, usually black or red to produce deep purple., Seed Count Approx - 250 to 300 avg SOWING - (F1) Sow thinly Early spring into mid Summer into finely raked, warm, weed-free soil at a depth of 13mm in rows about 30cm apart. Carefully thin seedlings as they grow by plucking them out and eating them. Best in a sunny position in soil which has not recently been manured, Lifted by late Autumn
