Salad Burnet Herb , Sanguisorba (Fragrant Perennial Salad Herb)

Sanguisorba minor, Perennial for Herbalists or in a Lunchtime Salad ,  An easy-growing plant that appears early in the season and holds up well in the heat. It is an attractive perennial plant from the Rose family, grown both for its edible leaves & its medicinal uses, but today it is mostly known for its astringent properties. As a low-growing herb of the grasslands, it produces rounded, reddish flower heads from May to Sept and is a favourite among herbalists for helping to heal wounds.   SOWING - Usually planted in the spring from seeds started undercover  indoors four to five weeks before the last frost. Once transplanted into the garden, the plants will reach maturity about two months after germination.
