Salad Burnet Herb , Sanguisorba (Fragrant Salad Herb))

Sanguisorba Minor, Perennial for Herbalists or in a Salad Bowl, is An easy-growing plant that appears early in the season and holds up well in the heat. It is an attractive perennial plant from the Rose family, grown both for its edible leaves & its medicinal uses, but today it is mostly known for its astringent properties. As a low-growing herb of the grasslands, it produces rounded, reddish flower heads from May to Sept and is a favourite among herbalists for helping to heal wounds. Its leaves are famous for smelling of cucumber if crushed or walked upon and this plant lives up to its name as a popular addition to salads and summer drinks. 

Sowing: usually planted in the spring from seeds started undercover indoors 4 to 5 weeks before the last frost. Once transplanted into the garden, the plants will reach maturity about 2 months after germination.
