Carrot , Amsterdam Forcing - 'Finger Carrots' (New to Us)

Daucas carota, Quick Maturing Variety Ideal for Forcing, A quick maturing variety ideal for forcing by sowing early in the season under frames or cloches. Harvested as ‘finger’ carrots they are very sweet and have virtually no core. They are fast to mature & produce uniform, cylindrical, finger size baby carrots with a good deep orange colour. The roots are uniform, cylindrical & slim & perform well fresh or frozen. Also suitable for growing in containers or small gardens. For an ongoing supply, sow these fast growing carrots at 14 day intervals through spring & early summer or for a Spring harvest you can sow in the greenhouse over the winter period., Seed Count Approx - 400 avg 

  SOWING - Can be sown early Mar to late Aug & harvested pretty much year round, sow carrot seeds directly into soil as they do not like transplanting & will often stunt in growth or mishaped carrots. Before sowing, fork thru to break up any lumps, remove stones & weeds & rake to a fine texture. Make a shallow 1 cm drill, water along the base, then sow seeds as thinly as possible. As they grow, pull out any tiny carrots & eat them, allowing more growing space for those to the sides. Harvest at finger length.
