Lychnis-flos-cuculi, 'Cuckoo Flower' - Finely Cut Rose-Pink Petals, A delicate native wildflower with a wonderfully untamed spirit. In early summer, its finely cut, rose-pink petals seem to flutter above the damp ground like little scraps of silk caught on the breeze, bringing a gentle wildness to the garden. Once woven through wet meadows, marshes & stream edges, this charming perennial is now less often seen in the wild. It feels most at home beside ponds, in rain gardens & in moist, boggy soil, where its airy flowers brighten the green and offer nectar to bees, butterflies and other passing pollinators.   SOWING - Sow in spring or autumn, indoors or outdoors. Surface sow on moist compost and do not cover, as seeds need light to germinate. Keep at around 20°C; germination takes 10–20 days. Plant out after frost, spacing 50cm apart, in sun or semi-shade and moist to boggy soil. Cut back after flowering to encourage more blooms and reduce self-seeding.
