Zingiber mioga - Hardy Japanese Ginger. A deciduous, shade-loving perennial native to Japan & southern Korea. The young spring shoots are picked first (leaving enough for the plant to continue growing), and later the slightly-scented flower buds, produced on an insignificant stalk at the base of the plant, are eaten. It's an attractive leafy plant, and quite happy in shade. Ht: 1.2 m tall. Priced for: 1 litre pot
Use: The shoots and flower buds are used in mizo soup, tempura, pickled and as a spice.
Please Note - During the winter months (typically from November to March), this plant will be supplied in a dormant state, ie; there will be no visible growth above soil level
