Schisandra chinensis - Deciduous climber native to northeast China and parts of Russia, with masses of white flowers producing clusters of edible red berries to eat raw or dried. It owes its name, Five-flavoured Berry (Wu Wei Zi) to the fact that it is sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent. This unusual berry holds a top spot in traditional Chinese medicine for its alleged superior medicinal benefits. Hardy perennial. Priced for a 3 litre pot
