Globe Artichoke, 'Tavor'

Cynara scolymus - A deciduous perennial which is both productive and ornamental with its large, silvery leaves. 'Tavor' is a new improved selection of Green Globe, that can crop in the first year and is virtually thornless. The heads have a sweet flavour and tender texture. Harvest in summer, or leave the plant to produce thistle-like violet-blue flowers in the autumn. Globe artichokes need to be planted where they will stay, and require a sunny site with reliable moisture. They are tolerant of salty air and will grow quite happily near the sea.
