A hardy herbaceous perennial with an upright habit, producing spectacular gold-coloured leaves from spring, followed by large racemes of white flowers in summer. Purple/black berries follow in late summer/autumn. In Japan the young shoots, which have a strong but pleasant aromatic flavour, are boiled and served in soups and salads. Do not eat raw. Good in shady parts of the garden. Prefers moist but well-drained soil and does not flourish in dry soils. Height 1 - 1.5 metres Priced for a 5 litre pot
