Origanum onites. Intensely flavoured Marjoram with a perennial shrubby habit. Likes a sunny position and well-drained soil. Good in a pot too. The flowers are attractive to bumblebees, honeybees, leafcutter and furrow bees. Height and spread 40cm. Priced for a 1 litre pot
Use: The young leaves and flowers are used for tea infusions. Sprinkle chopped leaves on pizzas, and combine with garlic, tomatoes, chillies and onions in stews, sauces and salads.
