Oxyria digyna. (Mountain sorrel). An attractive and very hardy perennial sorrel, producing reddish-purple flowers in summer and succulent leaves growing up to 50 cm high. The leaves have a nice lemony flavour and are high in vitamins A and C. Best in moist, slightly acid soil in sun or part shade. Hardy to -40°C. In a one litre pot
Use: add raw to salads, or cook as a pot herb. Eat in moderation as the leaves contain oxalic acid.
