Elder, Sambucus nigra f.porphyrophylla 'Blue Sheen'

Perennial. Beautiful near-black leaves that have a silver sheen, and fragrant pink flowers in summer. Sunny position is best for the foliage colour, but the plant will tolerate part shade. Height and spread is 3m x 3m but it can be pruned quite hard to keep it smaller. Fully hardy and easy to grow as it is happy in most conditions. Priced for a 2 litre pot

Use: Makes pink elderflower cordial, and the black berries can be used for wine, jams, syrups and pies
