Brassica oleracea var napus. Circa 1850's, of French origin. Hardy short-lived perennial, not to be confused with the similar 'Cottagers' Kale. This winter leaf crop has been grown since the dawn of time. It is extremely hardy and easy to grow in adverse conditions including poor soil. Branches along stems to produce many smooth, dark green heads. The plant will continue to produce tender leaves for winter picking. An unassuming, yet great-tasting vegetable with a pleasant taste when sautéed, steamed, or in soup and also a good source of vitamin A, potassium, & calcium. Very hardy and sturdy. Height: 3 to 4 ft. Priced for three young plants in 7 cm pots.
