Chilean Guava or Myrtle. A compact evergreen shrub bearing dark green leaves that start out as very attractive copper-red shoots when young. Pale pink, bell-shaped flowers are borne in late spring, followed by edible dark-red berries in late summer/autumn. The fruit, tasting of strawberries, was said to be Queen Victoria's favourite food. Sun or part shade. Hardy, although cold windy spots should be avoided. Height/spread to 1.5 metres. Priced for a 1 litre pot
