First Early. Firm Waxy Flesh. Raised in Scotland by McGill & Smith Ltd and well-known for its early lifting ability. Introduced in 1942, Home Guard was the main potato during the Second World War and was a commercial success due to its consistent high yields of fresh, tasty potatoes with white skins and white flesh.
