NEW TO US IN 2025 Pisum sativum. A drying pea with a rich history! The unique brown 'nutty' peas can be used as an alternative to Chickpeas or lentils. Until the late 1970’s it was traditionally eaten in Northen England on the Sunday before Palm Sunday, known there as Carlin Sunday. The tradition is said to commemorate the arrival of a shipload of peas in besieged Newcastle in 1644 during the English Civil War, saving many from starvation. Also popular with pigeon fanciers who feed Carlins to their birds. Seed count approx 50
