Phaseolus vulgaris. Introduced 1864. Very reliable, early maturing French bean. The round green pods can grow up to 20cm long, yet are still tender and stringless with a delicious flavour. The vines are rust resistant & climb 2 metres tall, producing beans in clusters over an extended season. Use young as fresh beans or leave pods to mature and use as dried (haricot) beans.
