Allium ursinum, Brown Bears Garlic - Hardy perennial, Named for the brown bear's avid taste for the bulbs. Wild relative of Chives, totally edible garlic flavoured plant, Leaves for salad, or raw or use in pesto in lieu of basil. Bulbs & flowers are also very tasty. Comes into growth in mid to late winter, White star-shaped flowers in spring & dies down completely by summer, Hardy perennial Herb, Ht - up to 45 cm, do not plant with any of the pea & bean family. Prefers semi-shade under trees, succeeds in most soils & prefers slightly acid, moist conditions like a shady forest floor., Seed Count Approx - 100 avg 

  SOWING - Sow 20mm deep INSITU outside any time of year, or Best indoors late summer/early autumn into small pots & overwinter under protection, planting out early Spring. Add a little bit of ericaceous soil or garden compost to the soil & keep reasonably moist.
